Anything missing that should go in as new forges? Any changes on those we have to make them more enticing?

One thing that comes to mind is an increase on the mighty bonus on forge bows. A lot of those were made not only prior to the expansion packs and level 40 but the ability to reincarnate as well. So where before +5 strength bonus on an archer would have seemed too high, today on a double reincarnate it could end up on the unnecessarily weak side.

That resulted in a call for uber arrows to solve the archer problem. But allowing for full strength behind every shot can help a lot as well. Full dex score requirement for any archer is a bit of a myth as well since most of your hardest opponents only have a 34ish ac or less. A good str + dex + con balance can work just as well with the right items. Bane of enemies on epic rangers make for a viable archer/dual wield build from what I have tried out.

To that end, I had two new forges in mind.

Bard's Bowman Tunic
AC clothing +5, +6 vs. dragon and outsider
Dex bonus +5
DR +6 soak 5
Improved Evasion
Limit AA or ranger, 1/2 Elf or human

Ingredients: Bard's Boatman Leather (TBD), each numbered Smaug scale, Air Earth and Fire containers, Dragon Skins (2), Fell Beast Armor

War-helm of Durin the Deathless
Resist bludgeon 20
Immune to Harm spell
Limit dwarf only

Ingredients: The Turtle Helm (2), Helm of Stone, Dragon-helm of Dor-lomin, Mithril, Mithin (2), Dwarf Runes, Deep Blue Sapphires (7) (TBD)

I am all for new forge items, especially armor/weapon types not currently well represented. For instance, I don't think there are any forge boots? Upgraded bows would be nice. There are tons of opportunities.

I would also love to see a rethink of whole Shard/Runes required for many of the Tol Falas forges. With the 75-100+ boss of kills required to collect a full set of 7, I doubt we will ever see any of those items forged. Even if the bosses dropped one random shard/rune every death, it would still take forever to get a full set of #1-7.

There are some brilliant white boots with pierce resist. But Dain boots drop and they have some decent dodge ac as is.

I noticed in MERP Elrond has a cloak Mantle of Doriath. The properties translate to NWN fairly straight forward.

AC +5
50% concealment
Elf or Half-elf only

The concealment could be implemented in some different ways. Unlimited improved invisibility would be bad because you can click other people, doors, levers, climbing ropes and chests to turn them invisibile too.

It would have to get scripted to apply it to the wearer when worn then removed when taken off.

That would be a very interesting cloak... for an elf! Smile

If elves were ever implemented right for a Middle Earth module a new player would start one with high stealth bonuses, some dodge AC and resistance to fire and cold on top of the stock NWN elf benefits.

Our lack of elves says a lot.

Some of the Noldor during the Third Age would rank among the most powerful warriors in the world.

I would like to see the forge in Trollshaw utilized more. Maybe increase the stats of the forged items from the generic +items, and adding new gear forged from low level item drops.

Yeah it is a shame about that location. But a lot of store items and low level drops are about as good now anyway. It might not hurt to unload excess off our mules and make some Trollshaw forges then give them out as needed. Just an idea.
