Is arda 2 going to be a bit less 'carebearish' than the older arda got towards the end?

I only ask as im lazy and id rather get my gear from pickpocketing Mad and turning tsa to stone and disarming him.

oh and can we have a flammable singing bard again... please pretty please?

Honestly I can see no reason not to allow pickpocketing... as long as it isn't abused, you're level 20 rogue should go round stealing gear from level 10s. I say if we can find a good way to control it then it's in. A little friction among the PCs always makes for more entertaining play.

As we get through the actual creating of the world and get closer to something playable we'll start to look at this kind of stuff. I will not permit people to steal each other's named/rare/whatever super hard to find items either by pickpocketing or disarming....however if you steal some gold from someone it is not the end of the world. So we will see what happens.
Ideally I'd like to attract players to the server because it is fun, not lose players because they got frustrated at having their stuff stolen...

We need to find a happy medium, I like the idea of players having enemies whom they fight constantly, but we have to put a limit on it somehow. Maybe once you're level 10 you can join a guild and only members of other guilds are allowable targets. As Sal said we are a long way from this but I think it's gopd to discuss. What are some other thoughts?

I think there needs to be a "pvp safe" level range for noobs. Kinda like diablo 2 had you not able to attack lvl 9s and under. Dunno if we can script this, but possibly making a xp penalty for anyone that does a hostile action to a char under a certain level, including PP.

I like V's idea, dunno if it can be scripted but it's an idea I like.

All your inventory items will get flagged before you even find or purchase them. The flag pickpocketable will be set to true or false. It seems best if your armor, weapons, wearables, special components and forges are flagged non-pickpocket. I don't personally have a problem with gold, gems, ammo, camps, scrolls and potions getting filched because these do not cause a massive setback.

While I know there's no point to this reply, at least not as far as the original author is concerned - I feel the need to state the obvious...does it ever occur to you, little fishie, that perhaps you should quit trying to be a bully, as it obviously doesn't suit you? Either that, or wait until you can actually pull it off!?

As far as pickpocketing goes, imho, people tend to take it personally, just like PKing, and I prefer that we don't have feuding players. I'm partial to one big happy Crackhead family, but that's just me. Since what can be picked (or is it pocketed?) has been limited, that seems like a fair compromise.

That's easiest just by setting PvP properties to off for a given area. Maybe Ph. 1 could be like that, but some PvP is desirable like 2 people with raise scrolls who just want to test out their builds by fighting each other.
