this is directed at the people who like do quests....

what types of quests would you like to see in arda2?

quests that fit the middle earth theme / story

quests that have no significance to middle earth

retrieve an item type quest

collect items quests

quests involving puzzles

quests to kill bad/good guys

quests to rescue people

broad quest arcs with continuing stories

simple one shot quests

all of the above

none of the above

please let us know your thoughts on quests, what you want to see and anything not included above (i'm sure there is plenty)

I vote for all of the above, as that way maybe I can figure out if I'm good at any of them? cuz I was suckin' at the orc/signal fire/lost in identical white mountains (I forget what it was called lol) one.

Prolly just cuz I'm such a spazz, but Bob sez it's due to my general non-gaming nature, since NWN is my only experience & I never even bothered with the single-player version.

You guys like the way I vote for making lots more work for ya? I thought you might! *looks innocent* whoops, wrong emoticon! there, that's better!

well, interested or not...I have a system in place that will save player's quest states and journal entries persistently. So you would no longer need to try and finish the quest in one sitting or before the server restarts again. You can start a quest one day and return to it a week later if you want with all the journal entries.

broad story quests that take us over the entire world.

it would be nice to have quests that you couldn't finish until you progressed further experience wise.

small incidental quests that give rewards or open up access to other quests

lots of quests!

lots of quests that end in death to all monsters!

and stuff

quests good!

Fill in the <blanks>

Once upon a time there was a little thief called <charname>.
He / She had heard rumours about a mighty <monster> in possession a of a very wondrous <loot>. He had his mind set on getting the powerful <loot> but the rumours also told tales about the poor fates of all those foolhardy adventurers who had tried to recover <loot> from the <monster>. However our thief was a fervent follower of <deity> and took upon a long journey to the heart of <holy site> to spend time praying and contemplating his oncoming mission. Thus <deity> rewarded our hero witha blessing that helped him to face <monster> fearless.

Uh I guess I'm asking if there could be quests that help you get through a harder quest.

example:

You are going to face a fearsome mage and you know you will face mind spells.
You do a pilgrim quest that will grant you mind immunity or improved saves against mind spells for a set time.

Quests that give you faction...Like the thief and watchman quests from the single player campaign. Deciding to do one precludes you from doing the other.

quests with side quests like Tothra suggested I would like to do yes. The first round of quests will be relatively simple, once we get the world up and running more quests will be added and they can get more involved as we go.

As for faction choosing quests I definitely want to work these in, there are many great situations for them in our world, though they are a bit more complicated to work out the mechanics for in a PW setting...there are considerations of other players, parties and whatnot that have to go into the equation when you start changing faction settings around.

Also after the first bunch of quests and areas, when there is time I would really like to do deity or class specific quests.

The first round of quests will really be just a way to add some extra flavor and a light RP option for those who enjoy those things.

NI!

Also, yay to the idea of being able to save your quests... I can't even tell you how many times I tried to finish the White Mountain quest only to die/get lost/miss somethin/generally spazz & have to start again. Eventually I coerced Mirwen it would be faster to just run thru with me than keep coming to bail me out Rolling Eyes I'll stick to the noob quests lol
