Really wanting that Gimli Dorf Waraxe!

Killed the Great Goblin 20 times, got Gimli Axe piece #6 on kill 10 and 20. As bad as I want the axe, don't think have have another 10 hours in me for a chance to get another #6 instead of #7.

8 Orcring's dropped tho.

What drop rate would be good? 10% for each unique drop?

The problem with the drop scripts as they stand as I said is they are not all consistent. While all as based on random numbers, some lists have more items than others in the drop lists, making some bosses drops more rare. a boss with 10 items will have a better drop rate than a boss with 20 items etc.

I edited all the drop lists on my offline version to drop ALL of the items on the list (mundane as well as rare) and some bosses had 1-2 pages of items, and a few had 5-6 pages of items.

So, do we want to change it so you always get a unique drop each kill, and then which unique item is where the rate is fixed? Or do we want it so that you still have the mundane items dropping on the drop rate?

i.e.
System 1: Drops 1) 1000 coins 2) +3 item off list 3) Unique item off list
System 2: Drops 1) 1000 coins 2) +3 item or rare off list 3) +3 item or rare off list

This also bring into the equation, what about powerful items, should they have a smaller drop rate than less powerful items? We all know how long it can take to get a beast ring, should that remain the case or should be even out the rates so it's fairer?

I ended up killing the Great Goblin about 35 times and ended up with 4 Gimli Axe #6 pieces and no #7's. I had to give up before I went insane Wink

If you could check/tweak the Gimli Axe drop rates on Annatar, Uvatha and the Necromancer that would be great Smile Besides the Great Goblin's #7, those are the ones I need.

i'm not sure about a flat 10% - i think it should depend on how powerful / desirable the drop is. but forge recipe pieces (#1-8 of whatever) should definitely be increased i think. also i think there should be a chance to get nothing except a rusty ORD Smile

maybe something like this:

named item: 10% chance
high-quality named item: 5% chance
forge recipe ingredients: 10-20%

and then give more annoying bosses (long travel times and big drop lists) an extra loot roll.

i wouldn't be lowering any existing drop chances of course. and the above pretty much falls in line with how i've adjusted a couple scripts earlier.

i'd really like to switch all the custom drop scripts over to local variables and a master drop script, but that's a bit beyond me at the moment. Serra has a great post on here about it somewhere.

That would be nice. Without anyone trading, the current drops can get very discouraging fast. Too bad that there wasn't a script that would increase the % of drops the more people in the party, or at least each party member get a lootable corpse but I am sure that is a pipe dream, lol.

I think the Great Goblin's Gimli Axe #7 is broke, he only drops #6.

Thank you for all your work!

I used the 10% as as example...it would depend on how many drops a boss has.

Annatar is an example of a boss who has 5-6 pages of drops. He drops an insane amount of gear. This means he tends to drop stuff less often.

That does sound good. On bosses that drop tons of stuff like Annatar, make the forge recipe stuff 20%, also for bosses that drop two forge items like Great Goblin.

I just got home from work and verified I killed the Great Goblin 28 times over the past few days and got 5 Gimli Axe #6 pieces. Pretty sure that is broke, more than happy to trade 4 in for #7. Not sure my sanity will allow me going back to Goblin Town anytime soon Wink

Trouble is that as it uses a random number generator to do the drops, it's entirely possible to do a boss many times and get the same drop.

28 times is actually not a lot in arda terms. I'm sure most of us have killed Ren far more times than that trying to get a beast ring.

Plus, there is one item that Annatar drops that I've never seen on the server. I had no idea it exsisted...

im trying to get mirrin (the stone, not the amy) from Herumor... and i passed 50 times through it without haveing the drop.
maybe we should post on forum and arrange a meeting in order to trade.
btw - i ll be online this eve and i have some gimlis parts spare.

Or.....could it be possible to make like a "bank" chest or a NPC which could be used as a trade possibility without having your dealing partner (PC) being online?

That would be amazing. Would have to be saved with server resets though.

I was able get Uvatha to drop Gimli #2 and the Great Goblin finally gave up a #7. Now it all depends on how stingy The Necromancer for #8 and Annatar for #5 are.
