Can it be possible to create a NPC to take a forge item and return the items required to make it? I have some less than stellar forges that have good items I would like back Smile.

Or sort out the crappy forges, some are dire..

a couple even exist that have worse stats than most of the gear used to make them.

There seems to be a push to not make items too good atm, which i can see but unfortunatly we already have some very nice items in arda..

Other forges need bringing up to the standard of these to allow some diversification in the items people use rather than creating 101 grond weilding one ring wearing toons.

This was always a problem, especially that the low level forges often need stuff that only high level characters can possibly get. It would be nice to see the less desirable forges based on stuff that drops in the low level dungeons.

That is an idea I really like. Maybe we could make a list of "less desirable forges"?

I know what you mean. But we really need the forges as item sinks. If we start implementing your suggestion, we d encounter an item inflation.

Less than desirable forges:

Celebrimbor's Mithril Chain
Lobelia's Umbrella
Iron bow (unlimited ammo but 1d6)
Aragorn's ranger armor
The evil BS
Maybe red robes
Maybe forge spear
And of course the forge boots

Wasnt the idea to add those less desirable forges to the lowlvl forge with other items needed to forge it instead of improving them? Would favor less rich players Smile

Im going to kind of voice my opinion on these items in that some of them took me a bloody long time to forge, especially the brolly.

I would consider it a massivge kick in the plums if you suddenly added these to the lesser forge and made them require less rare stuff. 3 months solid in celeb ost for a dagger to forge that brolly. Would kind of take my satisfaction away from me if it suddenly required an ord, 2 hide rings and a badgher pelt to craft.

Can i also just point out that yes these are crap at what they were meant to be but I use a few of them for other purposes and changing their stats too far away from what they are now would make them unusable to me.

The brolly again is a good example of this, as i rely on it on my wep master as it is relativly easy to UMD and contains element immunity and 2 other high level spells that are not easy to be dispelled.

I would rather see the items stay essentially as they are now but given a small boost to stats. The changes that were suggested above seem about right to me, apart from maybe more buffs on the brolly instead of spell slots?

Yeah a few more buffs on the umbrella would make it worth the forge. The stats were actually worse before the items were updated. I was told it was going to be a buffing umbrella after the updates. Maybe adding a few more buffs that are already in Arda like Shadow shield, improved invisibility and a high level darkfire.

I think we should add NEW low level forges. There are plenty of named items in Minhearth, Fornost, Tharbad, Green bandits, and other locations. Use these items and update the Trollshaw forge with low level forge items.

The undesirable forges should be updated to some what useful.

Hmm, have to make few comments^^

Umbrella:
Could you plz post what is needed to make it?
If we add there some lower slots, it still wont be used since there extist already so much nicer dropp torches with high lvl slots.
Its hard to decide what to make out of this item.
If we add even more buffs, other classes will UMD it and the difference between the abilities of different class will decrease.
If we add slots, we d have to add really high slots to make it attractive...
Or we could add make it a monk forge torch and add like +3 dex?
So many possibilities^^

Mithril Chain:
What is needed? (Sry, only knowing that we can decide what stats would be approbriate)
And consider, a 8/1 armor gives 9 AC, a 5/2 up to 7 AC, so only 2 less.

Iron Bow:
The toolset only allows +1d6 as unlimited ammo, and the bow isnt too bad. I use it with my WM for luring ennemies Smile

Red Robes:
-35% spellfailure means no spellfailure at all with this armor?
What you really have to consider is, that it grants up to 8 AC and saves you 4(!) feats (still, auto still 1-3). It would be pretty unapprobriate to give even better stats.

How about adding a 8/1 forge armor with nice slots and abilities for a battle mage? Like Red cloth only one boss would dropp those pieces.
But with arcane spell failure.
So you ve to chose, save 4 feats and take a good armor, or spend those feats and get a really nice one and a better shield too.

Boots,
well, they have to get better, for sure.

Ranger armor:

Again, what is needed? Smile
You can get up to 8 ac with it, its a really good armor for a build that doesnt need ac (archer, sneaker) or a str build.
Just dont try to use it on a dexer.
Well, and if you are going to tell me that most rangers are dexers, well then I tell you that they can MD Radagasts robes for example.
Its an "armor", not a robe after all. Would mean a flavor loss if we only cared about what would be best for an item.
The stats of this armor are really good, I think I should get one for my rogue =)

Make mithril chain 4/4.. lose the dex and make it have +5 str for example. 5/2 is worst kind of armor and we have lots of these in arda and no one uses them save for shifters. (well there is also other types which grant only 7 ac max combined but no one never uses these.

We really have some crappy medium armor..

Take scales of smaug for example
+4 ac
+4cons
+5regen
- really nice until

100% immune to fire and 10% vulnr to pierce. With azaers ammy you really must be glad to have 10% vulrn to pierce forge armor!! Smile
No wonder i never saw anyone running this on.

Lose the pierce vulnerability. We dont have forge items with negative stats on.

Well, Wraith Robes also have -1 str and -1 const.
I like the idea of having negative effects on some few items BUT only if they have something really good on them.
Thats not the case for smaugs armor, and there is a problem with the wraith robe too:
There are 2 on hit properties on it:
curse (lvl20)
and melfs acid arrow (lvl20)
The game only triggers always the 1st, and that is the sucky one.
I suggest removeing curse on hit from wraith robes and improving melfs acid arrow on hit to lvl40 (to brake SR). But having such an extraordinary ability, the -1str and -1 const should stay Smile

So you suggest to make Smaug just
+4 ac
+4cons
+5regen
?
