I d not increase the drop rate. At the end everyone will easily get to all kind items... u should really deserve to wear forge stuff. because u paid with the sweat of the adventure to get all the requested items.

What about crating a NPC, called for example "the Scavenger" who works like a bank or a "stock exchange"

He might not always spawn...
He might not spawn always at the same place...
He walks across all arda (or only in some selected areas)

And he deals with all kind of items.

Lets say you need an item X. he will give you this item, but u ll have to pay back.

He might take gp, xp or/and other lesser items.

The difficult part is only how to value those items?

------

If i want grond part 1 - i might have to give at least 3 other grond parts, pay some gp and some xp.

but what about if i need a named item (ex orcrist)
will i have to give at lest 3 other longswords gp and xp? or completely other items?

btw i just took the number 3 - u might even have to "pay" with 4,5,6... other (and even different) named items to get the item u want.

-----

the reason i propose this, is because i have many items several times and they work as dust-catchers on my mules. i think other players might be in the same position: too many items that have no purpose.

What do you folks think about that? is it a good idea or is it just a pile of shi*? javascript:emoticon Rolling Eyes

Hmm dunno, think it devalues the really rare parts of forge items..

How about having a big hard boss somewhere that contains the entire loot table Surprised he always dropps 1 named item, whether it be a hide ring or a beast ring, a northen hammer or a grond.. there are enough shite items that exist to make the chance of him dropping something uber a special occasion

So that would be a Sauron type person...the kind of boss that unless you have a party of 4 lvl 40 chars you don't stand a hope in beating?

Always wanted a Sauron in the game, but Madwack couldn't decide on what would be special enough for it.

Yes id like to see this like the roming characters that i suggested before...

Maybe just 3 to start with that can spawn anywhere..

These always drop ANY special item whatsoever that is currently in the loot table (all items having the same chance to drop), even if they drop a +5 hide ring.

Id suggest a neutral and evil and a good boss

Gandalf - Eood

Sauron - Evil

Gothmog - Neutral (I really really want to see a kick ass balor in ARDA:P)

well I struggled with a neutral person, got bored of mages so as a figured most of the balors were manipulated by morgoth/melkor

So they wern't evil per say hehe its a longshot i just wanted to see a kick ass balor in arda.. lets face it the one in moria is a bit of a pansie

Well, so was Sauron. He was a Maia too Smile.

Heh, btw. we are talking about Balrogs not Balors the DnD name so they didnt infringe any copyright...

Well you could put Tom Bombadil as the neutral one...

Have the drop rates been increased? I seem to see a slight change after playing for a couple of hours or maybe I am just lucky.

The dropprates have been increased like 3 years ago. If you see an additional increase now, you are just a bit more lucky than the other days^^
