In game we already had some discussions how new areas should be. But I forgot to ask for what Lvl range you wish the coming area to be. For example in far south mobs have around ~ 35ab + buffscript (adds from -6 to +6 ab I think). In Mordor orcs have up to 51 ab, bosses of course more.

I had something in mind like 40ab +buffscript for the main dungeon. The mobs and bosses in the minidungeons scattered over the isle will have a lot of more.
The idea is to make a still challenging area where most builds have a chance if they just figure out some tricks. In the "additional" dungeons players might need some few more tricks^^

Draco had something in mind about locked doors with high DCs to unlock giving XP upon unlocking. Im considering adding another alternative way to enter the main fortress.
The question is, what open lock skill do your rogues have, and what can you get with ardaīs items?

And dont let me be the only one posting in this thread^^

I dont know about other rogues. Unlock is pretty useless in Arda, so I think most have few points. I put points into my rogue I even put in epic skill focus. I think I can get into the 90's with some Arda items.

And I am not sure about this but are there epic traps ?

Im considering scripting some. Consequences on triggering a trap could be for example the "fall through a trap door" in another room with some mobs welcoming you^^

Yeah that sounds nice. I also think there should be consequences on a failed unlocked. Like if you fail someone is alerted and a mob comes after you.

Yepp, I like the idea. Spawning mobs behind you and somehow guiding them to you. Im sure I can script something for their on-spawn-script and sending them to the waypoint of the trap.

Spawning mobs behind you that then attack you...

Just log into arda now its happening as we speak.. shes lagging like a good one...

Hows about a reboot the server script before we start getting ahead of ourselves making new areas[/quote]

I agree with you, hope Aule will show up and add his 2 cents Smile
Not sure if it is possible, but to avoid reboot camping the daily (?) reboot should be at a random time, maybe with a warning 30 mins before.

That fix is not welcome... not that i would use it alot but i know quite a many uses it to survive or make it possible to reach a boss in their short limited time of play. Therefore it is a fundamental change.

Alltho it is a bug in the game engine, it won't hurt anyone if its in. Read about the posts stating arda is hard enough as it is.

I really get the feeling that you are competing in your mind against other players in who is a best character builder.

This is one major exploit, even worse than pushing in my opinion. Most bosses can be reached in around 1h with most builds, even in less time with a party. Dont search reasons to justify using exploits Smile

Sry, but dual wielders arent really the weakest kind of builds...

Huh? What makes you think that? Nerfing exploits doesnt have anything to do with character building.

I came back to play arda and rember a game i loved and have some fun.

I fear many of the new ideas you have mentioned implementing will simpley add to making this game more like a job that a fun bit of hack and slash.

I strongly oppose changes to any existing game mechanics.

Arda is verging on too hard as it and I am starting to think so people see it as their own little plaything and that they are free to change as they see fit.

I have to agree with oulou that from where im standing it seems a lot like items are been added/things changed to benefit peoples own builds.

Start changing things and people that have come back for a second look will walk im afraid. Dying all over the place is no fun and it taking 1+ hour to reach a boss simply encourages me to run through a level straight to him spawning all kinds of lag.

Arda already got its difficulty increased with the whole pierce/slashing bug, change whatever you want to call it. I can barely do cracks on a lv 40 fighter atm but i can walk in with a lv 36 caster and completely anhialate the place in less than 20 mins.....

Only for your information:
Most of the changes I once suggested would have screwed my own builds too. But well, I already said I dont want to change Arda any more.

Except the exploits. But I would never had guessed that the faction using exploits on Arda is so big. Some players even admitted in the forum as if it were nothing to get like 20 attacks/round by cheating.

Its ridiculous what you are saying. 1h to reach a boss is too much for you? You dont like killing mobs, just killing bosses and getting dropps? You can only have fun with a ridiculous number of attacks/round? O_o

Well, thats why I suggested once to remove some custom spells that made the casters so strong on Arda. But well, I dont have the intention to try to balance things out any more, so stopp complaining if you dont want solutions.
Another thing: if the hard areas are to difficult for you, go there with other people, or solo lower areas. If all areas had the same difficulty, well, then it would be kinda boring....

You are on a personal crusade.

Noone else wants things changed.....

But you have gotton a bee in your bonnet that something is not to your likeing? Noone bothers exploiting stuff, they just log on to have a blast.

Your comments about changing casters epic spells to bring them in line with mele characters amazes me. People wanted mele characters to be upped so they can handle things as well as casters, how is nerfing casters going to solve anything except annoy casters and mean neither classes can ahndle the harder areas.

Oh and what i do for fun on arda isnt anyones concern but my own.. I can tell you that doing certain areas all the way through to get an item that i need to be able to even live anywhere get old very fast.

Arda started to become screwed the day you began to need items with stupidly insane drop rates and shedloads of crafted components to complete the newer areas.

Of course could just roll a shifter and go around dropping unlimited maximised icestorms.

Ok, quick calculation:
Midlvl wiz with 72ice dam and 18 bludgoing damage on maxed icestorm
10 orcs
wiz is hasted, so 2 icestorms per round
makes 1800 damage/round.
How would you up a melee to kill as fast as a mage?
